SC Villa moved within a point of leaders KCCA FC after securing a hard fought 1-0 win over BUL FC.

The game that pitted second against third was chance for the Jogoos to avenge for their exit from the Stanbic Uganda Cup where BUL FC won to progress to the quarterfinals.

David Owori scored the lone goal of the game played at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira City.

This was the last game that SC Villa hosted at this ground. It should be noted that the league record Champions were ordered by FUFA to play five home games outside Kampala, Buganda and Eastern regions and this is how they settled for Akii Bua Stadium.

The physical contest saw Villa come out victorious thanks to Owori’s 38th minute strike.

The versatile player found himself in a good position after defender Richard Ayiko failed to stop Joseph Kafumbe’s cross.

Owori who was well stationed hit the ball with full force into the top right corner beyond goalkeeper Saidi Keni.

Despite efforts from BUL in the second half, the Jogoos defended resiliently to garner maximum points.

Victory takes SC Villa to 34 points, one behind KCCA FC who have a game in hand.

The Blues are now seven games unbeaten in the league (five wins and two draws) with the last defeat coming at Vipers in November last year.
