Vipers endured yet another frustrating outing after falling to Simba SC in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
Clatous Chama’s goal at the stroke of halftime was the difference in the closely contested East African Derby.
Despite showing putting up a much better performance, the Venoms still fell short in their pursuit of earning victory in the Group stage games.
Under coach Bento Bianchi, Vipers are yet to win a game or even score a goal and this stretches now to seven games.
Their would be equalizer at the start of the second half by Yunus Ssentamu was cancelled but on the look at the replays, the goal should have stood.
The Venoms travelled to Dar es Salaam missing some of the key players including Murushid Juuko, Bright Anukani and captain Milton Karisa.
However, this did not stop them from putting up a commendable fight.
On the other hand, the hosts created several chances and could have won by a better margin but Alffed Mudekereza was outstanding in Vipers goal.
Towards the end of the game Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal had a good chance to find a late equaliser but his back heel attempt was easily collected by goalie Aisha Manula.
The result means Vipers are bottom of Group C with just a point in four games.
