Nicholas Kabonge second half goal earned URA a hard earned 1-0 win over visitors Express at Nakisunga to extend the Red Eagles’ winless streak to nine games.
The former SC Villa forward grabbed the winner in the 66th minute tapping home easily after substitute Sunday Andabati set him up as he got at the end of Saidi Kyeyune cross.
The hosts could have extended lead but Hassan Kalega and Joseph Ssemujju missed crucial chances while at the other end, Allan Kayiwa shot just wide with the last kick of the game.
In the end, URA held on for all points that lift them to 9th with 20 points as Express whose last taste of three points was in November in a forfeited game against Busoga United drop to 11th position with 18 points, just six above the drop zone.
URA’s next league assignment is a trip to BUL on March 4 while the following day, Express will host arch rivals SC Villa at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
