The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will announce the host for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 on February 10, 2023, President Patrice Motsepe confirmed.

Guinea were chosen as original hosts for the bi-annual tournament nine years ago but were stripped off rights after being behind in preparations.

At the moment, six nations have placed their bids to host the competition with none from the East African region.

North Africans Algeria and Morocco, Zambia and South Africa from the south as well as Nigeria-Benin combo have been confirmed as nations bidding for hosting rights.

However, it’s very unlikely for the West African nations after Motsepe revealed that no region will host successive tournaments yet Ivory Coast from the west will host 2023 which literally rules out Nigeria-Benin.

“Each region will have a chance to organise a CAN (Cup of Nations). We cannot assign the organisation of the CAN successively to the same region.”

Caf visits and inspections to nations that have bided are ongoing until January 25.
