Ugandans have established their extraordinary talent for creating music and providing entertainment over the years. Rappers played a significant role in advancing the music business to where it is today and have successfully carved out a successful industry from it.


The state of hip-hop in Uganda has been the subject of numerous discussions on social media during the last few months. While some music lovers and industry professionals believe that the genre has succumbed to the upbeat tempo of Afrobeats and Afropop and has died in the country, others continue to be steadfast believers in the Ugandan rappers’ ability to weave words together to make bars and put together flows that would land safely in the hearts of music lovers and find good footholds on charts, to lead the greatly needed reemergence of hip-hop in the country.


While some rappers have been able to hold their own during the current reformation of Ugandan music, including Zedmonk Ssabatontomi, who is rightfully referred to as the leader of the revival, William Yolo, Felista De Supastar, Stone Age, Fresh Kid, Kalanzi, Hoffeim Byenkya, Dlex Ddunba to mention but a few, who all considers themselves as some of the best rising rappers in Uganda. Chart evidence and statistics continue to favor other genres, including Afropop, street hop, and even the alternative scene, which has experienced a more significant boom.


However, there is still much work to be done to restore Ugandan hip-hop to its former glory, and it won’t happen through finger-pointing and problem-slinging. In this article, we aim to highlight the top 10 new, exciting, promising and fast rising Ugandan rappers to watch out for in2023, these young rappers have been preserving Ugandan hip-hop by giving it their own distinctive spin.

He is a Ug Hip-hop Award winning rapper Rookieoftheyear22-MTNUGHiphopAwards22 & Favorite Hip-hop artist – UrbanChoiceAwards22).The street credited verbal king of “Rap What I Say” and Rap What I See”, an influencer with Rap-adverts, CEO TRT Entertainment Africa, Humanitarian and an influencer with Rapadverts.


The 19year old rapper Zedmonk Ssabatontomi is celebratory on new spiritual joint “Bow Before God” a Ug hip-hop drill gospel song. He is in praise of the most most high as talks his losses and wins, He urges the world to accept the power of God if they would love to transform their lives.
