The world-renowned Recording Academy, owners of the prestigious Grammy Award, has invited and inducted some other music stars as members of the 2023 class of Recording Academy.
Legendary Ugandan rapper GNL Zamba and his partner/wife Miriam Tamar are among those invited and have accepted to join the Academy as voting members of the class of 2023.
With more than 2,800 music professionals from wide-ranging backgrounds, genres, and disciplines around the globe received membership invitations from the academy and have until 14th of July, to accept.
According to its Vice President, Membership and Industry Relations, Kelley Purcell, “The new members symbolise the future of the academy. And represent the direction we are headed in as an organization and the music community at large.
“Exciting news family !!! #IAmTheAcademy and have joined countless creators and professionals who serve, celebrate, and advocate in the name of music year-round. It’s an honor be part of this year’s new @RecordingAcad member class”, GNL Zamba wrote.
The Hustle and Motivate singer announced the news via his socials expressing the honour in being chosen to be part of the new Recording Academy member class.
The Grammys voting academy is a culturally diverse group of select music connoisseurs, and inductees must pass a rigorous top-tier international screening by a college of judges tasked with inducting new voting members.
Members, who are selected, will get to champion the causes dear to their heart, and that of other stakeholders in the music industry. Additionally, they’ll also get to suggest changes to the rules of the academy.
