It was a busy weekend in Kampala where the prestigious Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards (ASFAs) 2022 took place after a two year hiatus over the global pandemic.

The colorful awarding ceremony, which was held this Friday at Kampala Serena Hotel, saw Nsimbi , a Ugandan – American international award-winning duo formed by Ugandan rapper GNL Zamba and American world fusion artist Miriam Tamar emerge as winners of the Fashionable Music Video Award for their song “Mbaga”.

At this year’s ASFAs, Mbaga competed against renowned Ugandan songs like like “Personal” by Zulitums, “Thank God” by Swangz Avenue`s Vinka, “Forever” by Leone Island boss Jose Chameleone, “My year” by Azawi and “Wandiisa Ki” by Rema Namakula.

Taking to their socials, Nsimbi posted about this win and welcomed the recognition saying that it shows how far Uganda’s fashion industry has came, and how far it is likely to go in the near future.
“The energy in the building was electric. With all the makings of a good Mbaga, we presented and won a highly competitive category, that felt great. We connected with friends we hadnt seen in a while and had an amazing time at the Awards. It feels great to be loved and recognized both home and away”, Nsimbi partly wrote.

“Our appreciation to our fellow creatives who keep creating and the innovators that keep innovating”, Nsimbi added.
The event, which hosts the biggest red carpet party in Africa, was attended by top celebs on the continent including Judith Heard, Miss Environment Africa 2022, Kaya Byinshii, upcoming Rwandan female artiste who is signed under Green Ferry music label, Zari The Boss lady, A Pass, Allan Toniks, Bad Black, Spice Diana, Sheilah Gashumba, Ruyonga among others.
