Joshua Oduka popularly known as Mc Kash Owakabi from the Northern Region of Uganda is
making waves in the comedy industry. His show dubbed “Laugh with Owakabi” started in Gulu
City and has now spread to other cities in Northern Uganda like Lira City and Kitgum . It’s
success is setting the stage for expansion into other regions outside the North.

Laugh with Owakabi brings both national and international comedic stars to Northern Uganda.
Names such as Ann Kansiime, Salvador, Akite Agnes, Nigeria’s Klint De Drunk, and Kenya’s
Eric Omondi have all graced the stage with Omondi set to return to perform in Lira,Gulu and
Elegu this February. Each performance serves as an exciting event that is attended by
hundreds of locals, many of whom don’t often have a chance to see world-renowned
comedians perform.

Speaking about his success thus far, Mc Kash stated: “It has been amazing seeing how many
people have supported us since we first started this journey. We’ve worked hard to bring
quality entertainment to our region and I’m excited about what lies ahead for “Laugh with
Owakabi” shows.

For most in attendance it’s not just about the performers but rather about seeing something
different than what they would typically encounter on a day-to-day basis. Laugh with Owakabi
also provides a safe space for many locals to relax and share laughs without fear or
judgement—something that was lacking in much of Northern Uganda prior to the start of this
show.

The comedy scene has exploded since the first performance at four years ago. “Laugh With
Owakabi” shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to attract a wide variety of comedic
acts both locally and internationally alike.

While it has already been confirmed that this year the show will go to Juba, South Sudan.
There is talk among promoters that it could soon expand outside of its original base within
Northern Uganda into other parts of the country such as Kampala city – adding another
dimension to Uganda’s ever growing comedic landscape. Only time will tell if these rumors
come true but if they do, expect nothing short than success for Mc Kash’s brilliant brainchild
