The Country woke up to sad news on Wednesday after Politician, actor and comic Kato Lubwama was pronounced dead at the age of 52.

Kato Lubwama born on 16, August has been a popular business and staunch figure in the country’s entertain industry is said to have succumbed to heart complications at Stana Medical Centre in Bunamwaya, a health facility that belongs to another artist, Stabua Natooro.

Several people have since eulogized the former MP;

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among said; It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing on of Hon. Kato Lubwama. His sense of humour brought life to the 10th Parliament and he built bridges across the political divide. He also leaves a solid legacy in the entertainment world where he spent most of his life. I convey our sympathies to his family, his constituents, friends and all who loved him. May his soul rest in peace.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa said; Woken up to the sad news of Hon. Kato Lubwama’s death. The former MP brought life to the 10th Parliament. He could bring a smile to all of us. He was passionate on seeing the entertainment industry grow and employ as many young people as possible. To him, the political divide in the country was unnecessary. He believed in a more united country with no hard feelings based on political beliefs. I wish to extend my condolences to his family and constituents. Rest in peace brother.
By the time he breathed is his, Lubwama together with his fellow directors and Executive Producers Phillip Luswata and Charles James Ssenkubuge have been working on a stage play dubbed “Cease Fire” which is scheduled to take place on 29, July at Serena Hotel.

The drama production looks at the essence of Uganda’s state of affairs – the diminishing smiles and the mistreatment experienced from both friends and strangers and also aims at sparking conversations and reflection among audiences.


Education
Lubwama completed his primary seven (PLE) in 1993, at Nabagereka Primary School.

In 1988, Lubwama sat for his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), at Old Kampala Secondary School.

1991-1992, Lubwama obtained his Special University Entry Examination, Certificate Other, at Makerere University Kampala.
Kato Lubwama is the Director of Royal Theater since 2010 to date, and he’s a drama actor.

Director, Diamonds Ensemble, since 1994 to this time he has passed on. Director Image Africa, since 1999 . Member of Parliament, Rubaga South Constituency since 2016 till 2021.

Kato Lubwama has been a businessman who dealt in the maize flour business and several other businesses including being the director of B24TV in Uganda.


Kato Lubwama has also been a musician who released songs like Tulye, Tetunakuta, Bank Yebyama, Abantu Bazibu, Akanaku and Dimitinya and recently on September 25, 2020, Tetunakuta meaning “We are not yet satisfied”.
