Kasirye Johnbosco is one of the most famous and most loved actors in Uganda. The actor narrates his so touching story of how he managed to start his life hustle from Buddu, Masaka Nzizi, before he joined the Ugandan film industry.
Kasirye is the firstborn to David Ssekajja (Bwiire), and Nanyondo Dorothy (both dead). He never spent too much time in school, having started at Nzizi Primary school in Masaka, he later went to Kasaana before joining Masaka secondary school where he studied his senior two but failed to continue school following the passing of his father.
The actor’s life took a turn in life after his father’s death. He turned to dig for a little pay, in order to earn a living.
When things became too hard, he tried to find all possible ways to come to Kampala so as to see life-changing. He was brought to Kampala by a family friend and started working as a house helper, doing house chores.
“I was paid Ugx 2,500/= every month,” He says
But unfortunately, they failed to fulfill the agreement and he had to find opportunities elsewhere.
After trying out all sorts of jobs Kasirye got a chance and he was recruited by a film-making company called Wakaliwood headed by Nabwana Isaac IGG. He passed through various auditions and he was confirmed for a project “Ejiini Lye ntwetwe” that kick-started his career as an actor. It is a movie full of magic and fiction that hyped it to both the local and International markets.
Up to now, “Ejiini Lye Ntwetwe” remains one of the best-selling and most loved local movies. Following the success of the movie, Kasirye acted in his second movie “Omusajja agwana mukalega“ another hit movie that crossed borders. Since then he became a star and he has earned numerous endorsements and has managed to build for himself a house, featuring in Music Videos and most importantly, Social Capital.
