Celebrated Ugandan Hip-hop artist GNL Zamba is on a mission to boost the creatives industry through giving artists and poets a platform to showcase their talent.
To achieve this mission, GNL Zamba has unveiled a new talent show dubbed ‘Night At The Forest’, which is held every end of month, during which Ugandan poets and rappers meet up to interact and show the world what they have to offer.
During the Night At The Forest event, which is organized by Baboon Forest every end of month, the audience is treated to Soul, R&B, Hip-hop, poetry and live music from the various artists that grace the event.
As part of his contribution to Night At The Forest, GNL Zamba presented a powerful poem titled ‘Legends of the Forest’ at last month’s event , which wowed the audience and we hereby share it with you;

HERO OF THE FOREST:
In the baboon forest, there lived a man,
A hero of legend, known throughout the land,
With strength and bravery, he stood tall,
Defending his people, giving his all.
His eyes were fierce, his skin was tough,
And his heart was filled with courage enough,
To face the dangers, that lay ahead,
And the threats that the baboon forest bred.
With a spear in hand, and his wits about him,
He ventured forth, and never did dim,
The fire within, that kept him strong,
And made him the legend, that still lives on.
For the baboon forest, was his home,
And he protected it, wherever he roamed,
From the lions that roamed, to the snakes that slithered,
He stood guard, and never quivered.
So, here’s to the hero, the man of the hour,
Who stood tall, in the baboon forest’s power,
A legend that lives, in the hearts of all,
And a hero who answered the baboon forest’s call!
It should be noted that this starting up gig is a commendable move by GNL Zamba, because it is an avenue for nurturing and promoting Ugandan music talent.
