Drillz the rapper, has released his highly anticipated album, High Thoughts Chapter 2: Chronicles of a Problematic Child now available on all streaming platforms worldwide. The album, which was released on April 20, 2023, is a follow-up to his successful ‘High Thoughts’ EP
The 26 -track album features guest appearances from awesome names in the industry, including YUXNG, King Ten, Curtis Laiger, TimTonne, Ping Ting, Nyende, Nsokwa, Larry, and Blcklyt. Drillz the rapper, who also doubles as the producer of the album, has ensured that the tracks are of the highest quality.
High Thoughts Chapter 2: Chronicles of a Problematic Child is a clear statement of the artist’s growth since his last album. The album has been in the works for the past two years, and the final product is a testament to the amount of work that was put into it.
In an exclusive interview with Drillz the rapper, he said, “This album is the result of my personal experiences from childhood, through school and Life . I have grown a lot as an artist, and I wanted to reflect that growth in my music.
The album is also a dedication to my late friend Mubanda Graham aka Dr. Gray, it is a prayer to God, empowerment to the black community and raises many issues in the community, I wanted to create something that’s timeless and socially conscious by talking about the things that matter like police brutality, racism, depression, suicide, drug addiction, alcohol addiction and even more, because what affects me affects many other people in my society and generally people across the whole world, and I have seen it getting worse amongst many of my peers, I have been Down that road and it’s a dark one, and I wanted to tell those going through all this that “we go’n be alright” like Kendrick said. It’s time to step into our power and rise in togetherness and love.
I finally found my peace in God and in love, that’s why I concluded the album with “Letter To My X” singing “I found my way back to love” because with love comes joy, happiness and peace, and God brings the peace we all need. I had to self reflect and fight my ego to be able to express myself and to be honest, I’m still figuring it out. I learnt to accept that there’s always room to learn and in order to learn, the ego must die. The tracks on this album are very personal to me, and I hope they resonate with my fans.
The album starts off with “ School is Ghetto” which highlights the struggles he faced in school, such as bullying, violence from teachers, and also reflects upon the burning of students in dormitories which left many children dead and caused so much trauma amongst the kids and parents, followed by “Devil’s Cocktail,” which talks about pain and alcohol addiction sets the tone for the rest. Then comes “Dream Dream Dream” featuring Blcklyt which is another high energy song. The album then moves on to ” Do like that” which features 2YUXNG.
One of the standout tracks on the album is “Mufasa”. The track is a powerful and emotional ode to the struggles that come with chasing one’s dreams. Drillz the rapper’s delivery on the track is poignant and heartfelt, and it is clear that the track is close to his heart.
