The Madaraka Festival is gearing up for its big 10-year anniversary, and it’s promising to be one heck of a celebration! Starting in Dallas this May and wrapping up in Seattle on June 17 and 18 for Juneteenth, this tour is hitting all the right notes. And guess who’s joining the party? None other than GNL Zamba! Arguably, the greatest Ugandan rapper of all time, GNL Zamba, the maestro of lyrical prowess, is set to grace the festival as a special guest, marking a monumental celebration of its 10-year journey.
The Madaraka Festival has come a long way since it started in Washington state in 2014. Now, it’s one of the biggest African music festivals in the U.S., drawing crowds in the tens of thousands physically and millions more virtually, last year alone transcending geographical boundaries to unite souls in the rhythm of unity and celebration.
Alongside GNL Zamba, there’s an eclectic lineup of internationally acclaimed musicians including Kenyan legendary rapper Nyashinski, Uganda’s Grammy nominee Eddy Kenzo, Cameroonian singer and rapper Naomi Achu, South Sudan’s Dynamq, and co-founder of Kenya’s music group Sauti Soul, Savara. Plus, a long list of other special guests.
