Cassper Nyovest, a South African rapper had a thrilling 55 minutes performance during his second visit in Uganda at the highly celebrated Blankets and Wine that happened at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Sunday . He performed both old and some new songs that he has just released.
He came on stage at around 10.20pm which sent the audience into ecstasy. First because of his good looks going by the lady’s expressions and mainly because he’s a force to reckon with in African Hip-hop.
Some of the people who attended the show sang along like they had known him their entire life.
Nyovest admitted that this was the biggest crowd he has ever attracted in a foreign country.
He sang songs like ‘Push through the pain’, ‘Top Shayela’, ‘Nyuku’, ‘Tito Mboweni’ and of course ‘Doc Shebeleza’ among others. He was full of energy and so was the crowd, his hype-man, keyboard pianist and deejay.
The evening also saw Ugandan acts like Joshua Baraka take over the stage with the artists’ own unique “Future Afro-soul” music while Azawi delivered an electrifying performance for the crowds with songs like “Bamututte,” “Quinimino” and “Party Mood”.
Revelers also enjoyed fun fresh Afro-rhythmic performances from Rwanda’s Micheal Kiwanuka, Kenya’s Bensoul Eli Maliki, Uganda’s Niwe Akeine and Tracy Melon.
Blankets and Wine, a picnic style musical festival, remains one of the most popular events on the local social calendar; a highly rated outdoor event that features top local, regional and continental African musicians performing live on stage.
