The legendary Jazz artist , composer Caiphus Semanya demands royalties from AKA’s team Sony music and distributors for his songs that AKA picked verses from without his permission since his artistry is being taken advantage of .
To be exact Diary a song that was released before AKA’s assassination in Durban outside a restaurant.
According to Semanya while speaking to Sunday World ,“I got calls from some people who said they were doing a compilation of his songs and inquired whether there was an agreement .
“ I told them we must not fight ; we must not make a big fuss about it . I told them our lawyers must handle it ”.
He goes on to say that this took him by storm since this isn’t the first time he was getting AKA of Plagiarism but before they met and came to an agreement , he accepted that it was a mistake and they found ways to resolve it hence lot expecting him to pick verses from his songs without his permission .
Therefore in this case it’s alleged that Semanya asks for 50% of the royalties from the albums where his songs are sampled , giving AKA’s record label sony Music an option to either pay up or face the music .
The multi talented south African artist Semanya also says that some of the artists ask for permission to re-do his songs but some don’t which is wrong and these young guys must know that it’s a business and they must do the right procedures .
