There is another emerging trend of Luga-English rappers of recent and they are firmly taking the mantle after their predecessors. Very few have the bars though and in that little sample-space sits a rapper called Isingoma John aka Medullar Mc aka Freestyle General Worldwide, also C.E.O of Mentality Records from Mukono/Kireka. You can tell that above being a rapper, breakdancer and beatboxer, he also has an entrepreneurial mindset. Having finished school and just early in his twenties, this rapper has basically repped the game so faithfully that you could bet the future of Ugandan hip-hop will have achievements to his name etched in stone.
He started his hip-hop journey as a beatboxer way back in Primary School when he used to beatbox to the ringtones in his phone. His friends recognized his abilities and egged him on to polish them. In Secondary School, he added yet another Element to the first one, when he discovered that he could also breakdance. He fell in love with the rhythm and sound of the music that is hip-hop later around 2012, and he went on a listening spree.
He tapped so much Lugaflow music and American hip-hop then that in 2018, he finally felt knowledgeable enough to grab a mic. He started with doing rap battles in 2018 and ate up rappers in so many competitions but the most memorable was when he performed in the G+ creative rap battles. G+ was a talent search for underground rappers around Kampala organized by the German: Claudia Grenier whose is a spouse to another one of the finest Lugaflow emcees.
In 2019, he participated in the MTN Pulse Rap Battles and clinched the Golden medal for being the finest rapper. In that same year, he battled Kawempe’s finest called Xhanol Mushin in the 256 Barz Battle League and after two hot rounds, the two had drawn.
He has worked with Oki Foeva, of the Lugaflow Army fame, on the 1000bars platform and he also showcases his freestyles on events like Kadanke and Buzz Teenz Awards. He is that rapper who can wake up and drop a random flamin’ live freestyle on his socials. In 2021, he finally started releasing music with his latest song called ‘Kuwangula’ which also has a video.
