Hip Hop is not just music, it is a vibrant culture that shapes Uganda`s society, and this culture is adopted worldwide. There are millions of rappers worldwide, most of whom are from Uganda.
This African-American music is popular because of the unlimited number of talented rappers. Some are underground rappers, some are locally popular, and some are celebrated all over the world. As such, it is challenging to select only a few of them.
Although age is just a number when it comes to talent, some rappers are into the field early in life, while some find their hidden aptitude later in life.
It’s not always impliable that those who enter the field at a young age will be more successful. Still, relatively, they would have more fame and opportunities in their lifetime if they actively released rap music.
Real name Kirabo Tyra, Stone Age UG whom others prefer call Ug`s Hip Hop Princess is a Ugandan female young rapper ,dancer and model. She is currrently one of the youngest female rapper holding the country’s flag high.
STONE AGE was born in 2008 in Mulago Hospital located in Kampala city and her family traces thier background in Masaka district particularly Kyotera(village) . She grew up in one of the city suburbs (kansanga) with her mother following the early death that robbed her father in a severe car accident when she was just six(6months) old and the family resides in Bukasa a city outskirt under Kampala city.
She was inspired by Senior Sula, who is also her Mentor, Hip Hop analyst, researcher, content creator, consultant, advisor and critic.
In 2020, She released her first hit called Kyekimu that made her get 3 Nominations in the 256 HIP HOP AWARDS that is to say, Best Female Rapper, Rookie Of The Year and Impact Song Of The Year.
This made her the first Young Female Rapper to be Nominated in those Awards in Uganda. The Awards did not happen due to the outbreak of Corona Virus.
In 2020, she was ranked by the EastAfrican Fact Files as the Best Young Female Hip Hop Star in EastAfrica.
In 2020, She got Nominated in STARQT AWARDS in SouthAfrica in category of COVID BREAK THROUGH ARTIST OF THE YEAR.
She also got nominated in BUZZ TEENZ AWARDS as the BEST UNDERGROUND RAPPER OF THE YEAR.
She then got Nominated in the UG TEENS AWARDS as the BEST FEMALE ARTIST in 2021 and also in the same year, she got 3 big Nominations in the MTN UG HIP HOP AWARDS that included Female Hip Hop Artist Of The Year, Rookie Of The Year and Inspirational Song Of The Year. She managed to win the Rookie Of The Year Award.
In the same year still, she got Nominated and consequently won the Award for BEST YOUNG FEMALE ARTIST in the famous AKASENGEJJA MUSIC AWARDS sponsored by Bukedde TV.
In 2022 , She got Nominated in the SOCIAL STAR AWARDS in Indiana, USA as the RISING STAR OF THE YEAR
She got Nominated and Awarded as the BEST INTERNATIONAL EMERGING HIP HOP ARTIST in Austria in the famous CLOUZINE INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AWARDS 2022 sponsored by the Billboard Charting Team
She got Nominated and won the BEST YOUNG-ADULT INTERNATIONAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR in the famous American Awards known as *INTERNATIONAL SINGERS AND SONG WRITERS AWARDS (ISSA).
She got Nominated and won BEST FEMALE HIP HOP ARTIST OF THE YEAR in the UG MTN HIP HOP AWARDS.
She Was an International Nominee in the Music Category in the CHEER CHOICE AWARDS in USA.
